The first Moomin comic strip Tove and Lars made together was #14 Moomin Goes Wild West (1957). The siblings wrote the text together and Tove drew the illustrations. In 1959 Lars took on the role as the Moomin cartoonist, giving his sister more time to concentrate on being an artist and not just a cartoonist. History. The comic strip was born, when Charles Sutton, the leader of the Associated Newspapers syndicate contacted Tove Jansson. Jannson's first Moomin books Comet in Moominland (1946) and Finn Family Moomintroll (1948) had already been translated to English and had been successful in the United Kingdom.

2011-05-10 · This is the first all-Lars Jansson book of Moomin comic strips for the London Evening News, and it is a great passing of the baton. After his sister Tove's contract expired and she declined to continue, Lars took her place as creator of the Moomin comic strips.
